Relive the Magic of the 2025 Thunderbolt Blessing of the Fleet!

The 2025 Thunderbolt Blessing of the Fleet made a triumphant return for its fourth year, reviving a beloved tradition after a 20-year hiatus! Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Wilmington Riverfront, the event honored Thunderbolt’s deep-rooted shrimping and fishing heritage, bringing the community together for a full day of tradition, music, food, and family fun.

A Celebration Like No Other!

Attendees witnessed the blessing of the fleet—a time-honored maritime tradition—led by Bishop Stephen Parkes from the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, who offered prayers for the safety and prosperity of local fishermen and their vessels.
Live music filled the riverfront, creating the perfect soundtrack for a joyful day.
Guests indulged in a wide variety of flavors, with savory bites from food trucks and Thunderbolt’s own local eateries serving up everything from fresh seafood to beloved festival favorites.
An exciting vendor market showcased local artisans, businesses, and specialty goods—offering guests the chance to discover unique treasures.
Families enjoyed an array of free activities, making it a true community experience filled with laughter, connection, and coastal charm.

Boaters Answered the Call for the Blessing of the Fleet Boat Parade!

Spring was officially kicked off with a scenic cruise along the Wilmington River during the Blessing of the Fleet Boat Parade. Boaters gathered friends and set sail through the heart of Thunderbolt, GA, joining fellow enthusiasts in this cherished tradition. Bishop Parkes blessed the fleet at 2 PM from the water.
Participation was free, with a self-guided procession forming in front of Town Hall. Boats and vessels of all sizes were welcome—and The Burger Boat kept the good vibes going by serving up delicious bites right on the water!
