Parades
The Blessing of the Fleet kicks off with a vibrant Land Parade at 12 PM and continues with the beloved Boat Parade and Blessing at 4 PM on the Wilmington River. From decorated floats to vessels of all kinds, it's a full day of tradition and celebration.
Land Parade
12 PM Kickoff
The day begins with a lively parade through Thunderbolt featuring local businesses, community groups, and more. Grab a spot along the River Drive and enjoy the energy as it rolls into the festival.
Boat Parade & Blessing
4 PM on the Wilmington River
Originally intended to bless fishing boats for a safe and successful season, this tradition has evolved to mark the unofficial start of summer. Today, vessels of all kinds are invited to take part and celebrate, bringing the Thunderbolt Blessing of the Fleet to life on the Wilmington River. Boats will begin to line up at 3:30, Father Brannen of Saint Michael Catholic Church on Tybee Island will begin at 4 PM.
